errata ☜☞ fe de erratas
Errata (Latin for errors) are corrections in a work that have been noticed after printing. In sueltas, they sometimes appear in paragraph form within the colophon, or as a separate paragraph after the colophon, as a separate page.
All the examples given include the statement from the Corrector General de su Majestad (Philip V in this case) that the edition is a faithful copy of the original, which had been approved for printing. This is the fe de erratas (an attesting with conviction), although this wording is not always used, and sometimes no errors are listed. It was the Corrector General’s job to list the errors (as well as to check that no unapproved wording had been slipped in). [DWC]
