display type and decorative type ☜☞ letras de muestra o decorativas

To enhance the look of the drop title or of the full title page, printers would sometimes use display or decorative type in the caption title, title, or author’s name. The word "display" refers primarily to the size of the type (18 points or larger), and letters can be plain or decorative. In the first example, the word COMEDIA, is large but plain; the second and third examples are set in display types of the “decorative” variety.
